We are looking to recruit a SAFe Scrum Master / Team Coach on a permanent basis in Leicester. TBA Leicester produces market leading, large-scale, distribution and supply chain software products used by customers worldwide and is aiming for further substantial growth over the next 5 years.

The Scrum Master / Team Coach (SM / TC) role is a unique Agile team member who spends much of their time helping other team members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate; generally, this person assists the teams in meeting their delivery goals.  They also collaborate across Agile Teams to enhance workflow efficiency. As servant leaders, SM / TC’s prioritize the needs of their team members and ensure alignment with organizational values and goals.


Job Description

The Scrum Master / Team Coach is a servant leader who enables teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Lean-Agile practices. Your role will involve supporting SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, and other ways of working the team have adopted and helps the team coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART).  This person assists the teams in meeting their delivery goals, while enabling a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.

 

  • Act as a servant leader and coach to multiple agile teams and ensure the successful execution of agile practices
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Help set and maintain team charters to create shared goals and behaviours and create a trust environment in the teams, where everyone feels safe to be open on discussions
  • Foster collaboration and self-organization within teams, helping them achieve their full potential and high performance
  • Promote continuous improvement by encouraging open communication, addressing challenges, and removing obstacles that may hinder team progress
  • Facilitate inspection and adaptation to help achieve this and support the organization in building out negative behaviour (anti-patterns)
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Project Managers and product leadership to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives
  • Support the SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) and other stakeholders in aligning teams to deliver value incrementally
  • Assist in tracking via key performance indicators (KPIs) using empiricism for agile performance and team development
  • Act as an agile ambassador, promoting the benefits of agile practices within the wider organization
  • Be part of a community of Scrum Masters that create and share common goals

 


Qualifications

This role is designed for someone who is passionate about leading teams in their agile journey and improving team performance while ensuring alignment with the SAFe framework.

 

As a Scrum Master / Team Coach, you will have:

 

  • A passion for improving processes and workflows and helping deliver quality
  • Proactive and focused.  Willing to take the initiative and get things done with a positive “can do” attitude and collaboration with others
  • Ability and willingness to self-learn / increase SAFe / agile knowledge and coaching skills (given suitable professional training)
  • Be highly motivated, with the self-discipline to manage workload and meet key deadlines, with a willingness to go above and beyond

Additional Information

Key Skills & Experience:

Knowledge and experience amongst the following technologies/practices:

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master in a SAFe or Scrum environment (SAFe Advanced Scrum Master Certification or Professional Scrum Master III Certification preferred)
  • Strong experience in coaching and mentoring agile teams to adopt and thrive within the SAFe or Scrum framework and able to demonstrate servant leadership
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies, Scrum, and SAFe principles
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach and the ability to facilitate complex discussions and decision-making with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide team members
  • Ability to identify and address potential team dysfunctions and facilitate solutions to overcome them
  • Strong written and personal communication skills
  • Ability to self-manage workload and meet key deadlines
  •  

Knowledge/experience of the following would also be beneficial:

  • Experience of the logistics industry, especially warehousing
  • Other SAFe or Scrum certifications
  • Experience of developing code or software testing
  • DevOps culture, especially Continuous Improvement techniques
