Diversity, equity, and inclusion
Fair, inclusive, diverse, and engaging working environment
We strongly believe that diverse teams, which represent the multicultural communities we operate in, create the best results, and that a working environment where everyone can be themselves is an essential part of Konecranes’ mission of consistently delivering a world-class customer experience. We consider the variety of talents and backgrounds to be one of the key assets to drive our success as a company. The different skill sets nourish creativity and value creation, and help deliver results.

How we do it?
We follow an inclusion index, which positions us among the top companies in the area. Our people processes and policies support diverse recruitment practises. In addition, we raise awareness through our own tailored trainings and internal discussions. In these, we have placed special focus on unconscious bias that creates barriers for women and underrepresented groups. It’s part of our commitment to conduct responsible business, where people can have fair opportunities and enter a workplace where equity is the norm.
Employee Resource Groups
Employee Resource Groups are voluntary, employee-led initiatives that foster a diverse and inclusive workplace, aligned with our company’s vision, values, and goals. Through these groups, we bring visibility to the needs of minority communities, share common experiences, and develop innovative solutions to improve our work environment and culture.
Promoting LGBTQ+ Equality and Inclusion
The Pride & Allies Employee Resource Group creates impactful change by organizing educational workshops, inclusive celebrations, and awareness campaigns. Open to all employees, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, this group plays an active role in promoting equality and fostering a culture of belonging, ensuring everyone feels respected and valued.
Empowering Women in STEM Careers
We actively encourage girls and women to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) by partnering with schools, running mentorship programs, and hosting STEM-focused events. Our Progressing STEM group supports female employees by offering networking opportunities, career development resources, and initiatives aimed at reducing gender disparities in technical fields.
Advocating for Accessibility and Disability Awareness
The Allies for Disabilities group takes action by advocating for enhanced workplace accessibility, both physically and digitally. Through training sessions, open forums, and collaboration with HR, this group drives initiatives to improve mental health support, raise awareness of hidden disabilities, and create a more inclusive workplace for all.
Advancing Women’s Leadership Development
Our Inspiring Women to Leadership group accelerates personal and professional growth through mentorship programs, leadership training, and networking events. By facilitating collaboration across departments, this group empowers women at every level of the organization to build their leadership skills and take on new challenges with confidence.
Driving Climate Action and Sustainability
The Climate Action group engages employees in environmental efforts by organizing volunteer opportunities, sustainability challenges, and educational campaigns. This group amplifies our company’s commitment to combating climate change by fostering a shared responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and make environmentally conscious decisions in our daily operations.
Bringing Equality into STEM Fields
We want to be a company of choice for the best diverse talents, and the STEM area is very important to us. Today, our female gender diversity in STEM is 14.69%, an increase of 1.8 percentage points compared to 2020, and in line with our target to have a gender diversity balance of at least 22% by the end of 2025. We are developing this area systematically, working on narrowing the gap. At Konecranes, we pay tribute to all our women, who are our role models, encouraging more girls into STEM careers and supporting women already working in the field.
