Job Description

Position:          Modernizations Field Application Specialist

Location:         Burlington, ON, L7L 6A4

Position Summary

Join a dynamic and innovative team as a Field Application Specialist, where your expertise will directly impact the success of cutting-edge crane modernization projects. In this role, you will travel to diverse crane sites to gather critical mechanical and electrical data to ensure precise designs, accurate quotes, and seamless installations. You will project manage the field installation, start-up and testing of modernization projects of various sizes and complexity, working with our Konecranes’ team, subcontractors and customers. Your work will drive efficiency, safety, and excellence, contributing to transformative projects across Canada. Expect an exciting blend of technical challenges, problem-solving, and collaboration with industry leaders.

Principal Responsibilities

Frontline Sales support

  • Site visits to collect detailed as-built mechanical measurements and electrical data
  • Prepare reports, sketches, drawings, diagrams, maps, photos etc of collected data
  • Selection of related and approved subcontractors
  • Develop preliminary field installation plans and timelines
  • Critically review contract documents and sales proposals

Field Project Management mainly on large modernizations jobs.

  • Review contracts documents, proposals and purchase orders
  • Technical review of engineering documentation for field implementation
  • Field verification of approval drawings
  • Installation planning
    • Methodology
    • Timelines
    • Equipment
    • Materials, including verification of materials received
    • Personnel, …         
  • On-site project management
    • Manage installation schedule
    • Manage technicians with Planners and FOMs
    • Manage/liaison subcontractor
    • Keep track of delays for back charges
    • Customer contact/liaison
    • Technician support/liaison to GTS/Engineering/other support
    • Collection of field documentation (i.e. SAT, Load Test Report, TruConnect Activation)
  • Other tasks related to function.
    • Ex: Root cause reports on highly technical issues and/or Key Accounts.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on technical expertise in crane installation, modernization, and the overhead crane industry.
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Willingness to work at heights on the equipment or from a MEWP
  • Proven leadership abilities, strong customer focus, and exceptional collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and advanced PC applications.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Language:         English (Bilingual French an asset)

Travel:              Frequent travel on a regular basis up to 50% and can get higher on specific projects.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with an exemplary driving record.
  • Ability to travel internationally for training or related to function.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety, ensuring best practices in all operations.

Education

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
