A new and exciting opportunity now exists for a highly driven and successful Service Manager to join the Ports Solutions team for Konecranes and Demag as the Ports Service Manager – Australia and New Zealand.
Based in Sydney, and reporting to the Oceania Sales and Service Manager, this role will see you responsible for managing the overall Service operation for the Ports business across Australia and New Zealand to ensure profitability and growth as well as developing and effectively delivering the Port Service Solutions to new and existing customers.
About the role
Day to day you will be required to:
- Lead, coach and mentor the Field Service team in all operational activities.
- Ensure that Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times by coaching team members, discussing safety items and practicing safe work behaviours.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and suppliers through regular customer visits to develop and retain loyalty with Konecranes Ports Services.
- Grow, promote, operate and maintain the Port Service Frontline including long term service and maintenance agreements as well as the establishment of a Spare Parts business.
- Plan and monitor field labour hours to maximize profitability and productivity.
- Continuously monitor key service metrics including profitability, productivity and recovery and take necessary action to improve performance in these areas.
- Identify the skills and knowledge required by the team to perform their assigned tasks and provide appropriate training opportunities to acquire these.
- Review and approve technicians’ time entries ensuring that times submitted are accurate and can be allocated to the correct job numbers.
- Plan and facilitate monthly service toolbox meetings with completion of minutes, attendance records, action plans and follow ups.
- Ensure on-call and 24-hour response is available or negotiate other agreeable actions with customers.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering role or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience in a service-related management position
- Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated technical competence in Terminal Operations / Port equipment highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating contract terms and conditions.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire and engage a diverse workforce.
- Ability to effectively and productively engage, motivate and inspire employees.
