Job Description

Job Position : Apprentice Electrician - Calgary

Address : 3332 114 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2Z 3V6

Role Overview As an Apprentice Technician at Konecranes, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and functionality of our equipment at various customer locations. You will receive comprehensive training and have the opportunity to grow within our company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all corporate Safety Policies and guidelines/procedures, including Branch Monthly meetings and those established by the customer. Report any unsafe practices.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists. Be available “on call” for after-hours service as part of the service office rotation.
  • Troubleshooting: Conduct on-site electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic troubleshooting to identify equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
  • Safety Reviews: Document findings and make corrective recommendations during SAFETY REVIEW. Provide written “Safety Notifications” for any observed safety concerns.
  • Customer Consultation: Discuss repair and safety-related issues with customers, providing recommendations to improve their SAFETY & PRODUCTIVITY. Determine items requiring quotation.
  • Documentation: Complete electronic documentation using company digital tools, obtaining customer signatures and acceptance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on CSA, OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and other industry codes or regulations.
  • Work Packages: Complete required documents professionally and submit them timely.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets in safe working order. Operate tools and vehicles responsibly.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain supply of forms, literature, inventory, and materials in the service vehicle. Document usage or sales to customers.
  • Safety Meetings: Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Your Skills and Qualifications:

Associate degree in industrial or electrical/Mechanical Technology with a related field or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE: Min 1 year or depending on the Provincial Legislative requirements and CSA standards.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have and maintain a clean driving record, including a valid driver’s license. Must be willing, fit, and able to work at heights/climb ladders/walkways. Must possess a good computer, written.

Maintain required certification for the role Journeyman Electrician, Millwright or other. Requirement to maintain compliance with all regulatory trainings (e.g. working at heights regulations)

Physical requirements

Must be willing and physically able to complete all required tasks , fit, and able to work at heights/climb ladders/walkways. Must possess a good computer, written

    • Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. less frequently on a daily basis.
    • Must be able to lift to 75 lbs. and up to 100lbs on a rare basis with an assisted devices.
    • Must be able to lift 100 lbs. on a rare basis.
    • Frequent working at heights
    • Climbing large numbers of stairs and ladders to reach work location.
    • Need for good balance, ability to stoop/crouch, and work overhead.
    • Pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling as required.
    • Frequently exposed to heat, cold, noise and heights as work takes place outdoors as well as indoors at industrial customer sites.
