Life at Konecranes Konecranes Singapore: Let's talk inclusion
KONECRANES SINGAPORE
Let's talk inclusion
Since 2024, Konecranes has partnered with Candid, a nonprofit supported by Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth, to host meaningful DEI workshops that go beyond training. These sessions open space for vulnerability, empathy, and real dialogue, laying the foundation for workplaces where everyone feels seen and respected.
The most recent workshop in Singapore centered around Singapore’s new Workplace Fairness Legislation, encouraging companies to take proactive steps toward inclusive, discrimination-free environments. Konecranes employees took a deep dive into understanding casual racism and microaggressions - terms often heard but rarely explored so honestly. “We started by naming what microaggressions sound like,” one participant shared. “It was eye-opening to hear how even small comments can carry deep impact.”
With guidance from Candid’s skilled facilitators, participants broke into small groups where real stories were shared and personal assumptions were challenged. “These conversations weren’t easy,” said a team member, “but they were necessary. We realized that being inclusive means being brave enough to be uncomfortable - and compassionate enough to listen.”
One of the workshop’s key tools was the Konecranes Inclusive Language & Cultural Awareness guide. Employees reflected on how intentional language can affirm identity, honor heritage, and shift culture in subtle but powerful ways. “Something as small as changing a phrase can open the door to trust,” one facilitator noted.
The workshop also built on insights from Konecranes’ 2025 Cultural Day, revisiting the dimensions of culture that shape how we communicate, lead, and collaborate. From silence to leadership styles to how we view time, bias can live in the details. Throughout the day, employees practiced awareness, empathy, and cultural agility as core leadership skills.
The event closed not with speeches, but shared meals and laughter - moments that reflected the spirit of inclusion we strive to create. “As we sat together from different backgrounds, it reminded us that diversity isn’t just a value, it’s something we live when everyone has a seat at the table.”
To everyone who showed up with openness and care: thank you.
