Job Description

Location: United Arab Emirates (Middle East Travel Required)

Position Summary

Konecranes Port Solutions is seeking an experienced Mechanical & Power Systems Specialist to support maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul activities on port and container handling equipment throughout the Middle East.

The role is responsible for mechanical, hydraulic and engine-related systems across Ship-to-Shore Cranes (STS), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG), Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG), Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC), Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHC) and associated equipment.

The successful candidate will support customers by improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime and providing technical expertise during breakdowns, inspections and major repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and powertrain faults.
  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Troubleshoot diesel engines, generator sets and auxiliary power systems.
  • Support overhaul activities on engines, transmissions, gearboxes, brakes and drive systems.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, valves and cylinders.
  • Support major crane repairs, refurbishment projects and equipment upgrades.
  • Perform condition assessments and provide technical recommendations.
  • Produce accurate service reports and root-cause findings.
  • Support shutdown activities and emergency breakdown response.
  • Identify opportunities for repairs, spare parts, lifecycle services and modernisation projects.

Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with Konecranes and customer safety requirements


Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience supporting heavy industrial equipment.
  • Strong experience with hydraulic systems and rotating equipment.
  • Experience working with industrial diesel engines and generator systems.
  • Knowledge of fuel, cooling, lubrication and power generation systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience working on cranes, container handling equipment, mining equipment or similar heavy industrial machinery.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Valid driving licence.

Preferred Experience

  • Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHC).
  • RTG diesel-generator systems.
  • Hybrid RTG technology and battery systems.
  • Cummins, Volvo Penta, Scania, DEUTZ, Caterpillar or MTU engines.
  • Crane mechanical modernisation projects.
  • Structural inspections and repair supervision.
