Job Description

Location: United Arab Emirates (Middle East Travel Required)

Position Summary

Konecranes Port Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical & Automation Specialist to support ports and container terminals across the Middle East.

The role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, commissioning and optimisation of electrical, control and automation systems on port equipment including Ship-to-Shore Cranes (STS), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG), Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG), Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC), Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHC) and associated terminal systems.

The successful candidate will be a customer-facing technical specialist focused on maximising equipment availability, safety and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic and automation-related faults.
  • Carry out planned and corrective maintenance on crane electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, inverter drive and control system issues.
  • Support commissioning, upgrades, retrofits and modernisation projects.
  • Perform testing, calibration and system validation activities.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and software documentation.
  • Support remote diagnostics and technical fault analysis.
  • Produce clear service reports and technical recommendations.
  • Identify safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support emergency breakdown response throughout the region.
  • Identify opportunities for repairs, spare parts, upgrades and lifecycle improvements.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience supporting heavy industrial equipment.
  • Strong fault-finding skills on electrical and control systems.
  • Experience with Siemens, Beckhoff or similar PLC platforms.
  • Experience with AC and DC drive systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience working on cranes, container handling equipment, mining equipment or similar heavy industrial machinery.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Valid driving licence.
