Job Description

Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to ensure the application and continuous improvement of the company’s Health, Safety, Environmental activities. This will involve becoming a trusted adviser for functional managers and employees across the business through the application of Industrial Service and Equipment, HSE knowledge and practical solutions and is also for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Company’s Business Management System (BMS).

The HSE Trainee engineer will work closely with the Industrial Service and Equipment _South Asia HSE Sr. Manager, Local IS management, Director, India and APAC Safety Director and with the aim of ensuring a compliant HSE framework that is relevant to the organisation and well understood by all.

Typical responsibilities include:

  1. Administer and support the company’s HSE Performance Management System ARMOR by validating, assigning for investigation, and monitoring topics arising from Observations, Near Misses, Incidents etc.
  2. Coordination and follow-ups on internal audits (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO9001, etc.).
  3. Participate in External Audits as required (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO9001, etc.)
  4. Assist in investigations of incidents as required
  5. Promote ARMOR observation and leading indicator reporting
  6. Help to ensure compliance to the company’s Occupational Health and Safety requirements by performing Internal HSE Audits of various Konecranes and Demag locations spanning all Industrial Service and Equipment
  7. To ensure that technician is having relevant PPE’s (Inventory management)
  8. Participation in the compiling and delivery of the Safety portion for Toolbox Talks
  9. Perform your own adhoc observations and workplace inspections with the aim of ensuring compliance and to discover new ways to reduce WHS risks
  10. Supply information to external Sub-Contractor Management providers
  11. Support to plan safety audits of Sub-contractors and follow-ups for compliances
  12. Support front line staff with information and data as needed
  13. Assist with gathering and distributing information required for HSE Reporting
  14. Manage, monitor and record location/offices HSE activities
  15. Check completion & compliance for PoWRA activities for all branches
  16. Deliver required virtual safety training to employees
  17. Manage medical equipment to follow legal requirements
  18. Record keeping for Emergency preparedness system - Fire extinguishers, Air-Suppression systems, Smoke detectors, first-aid kits, etc.
  19. Support OH&S yearly training plan to follow legal requirement
  20. Assist the Service department with information relating to EHS matters in preparation for submitting Tenders for major contracts.
  21. Awareness of ISO 14001 & 45001 Standards

Working Relationships:

  • The position reports directly to IS & IE_South Asia Sr. Manager HSE
  • Will work and always cooperate with IS & IE_South Asia HSE Sr. Manager & Safety Director
  • Communicate with ISE staff, engineer & EKC Personnel to ensure subcontractor follow the safety regulation
  • Follow Country, Region & Global safety requirement

Brief Summary of Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

ACCOUNTABILITIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Safety - Ensure all jobs have PoWRA and or/Risk Assessment
  2. Basic HSE Training (Induction, virtual & TBT) for employees
  3. Incident reporting & recording including AIR, and any other systems established by Global HSE.
  4. Monitor Safety, health and environment legal requirements
  5. Continuously Improve HSE related to standard legal /Global

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  1. KPI Safety target measurement
  2. Sub-contractor HSE training
  3. Toolbox /Safety Committee meeting
  4. PPE inventory management
  5. Planning - Workplace Auditing
  6. Achieve annual HSE targets
  7. PoWRA Completion and Compliance

Work related Requirements:

  • Learn and understand Konecranes & Demag product range and procedure.
  • Ensure that Global safety requirement is applied in the organization.
  • Ensure that the Konecranes & Demag brand is communicated consistently and in accordance with the Company’s Brand Manual and expectations.
  • Ensure that KC Health, Safety, Environmental processes are followed.
  • Actively engage in training programs, both nationally and internationally (if required).
  • Actively engage in Sub-contractor management.
  • Proactively engage with employees promoting KC as an employer of choice.
  • Assist to IS & IE_South Asia HSE Sr. Manager for ISO 45001, ISO 14001 latest version.

Specialised Requirements:

  • Experience in heavy manufacturing or construction environment preferred
  • Ability to work with computer programs: - Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Reasonable English language Skills

Other Important Dimensions:

In the absence of the IS&IE_South Asia Sr. Manager HSE, the delegation of authority will be APAC HSE director.


Qualifications

Diploma in any engineering field and qualification in HSE, fire and safety management.
