Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated HSE Director to lead our Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives across ISE EMEA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant HSE regulations, promoting the safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in all aspects of workplace health, safety, and environmental management. The HSE Director will play a critical role in mitigating risks, reducing workplace incidents, and ensuring a sustainable approach to environmental stewardship. The HSE Director is part of the ISE Region EMEA management team, the global ISE HSE leadership team and also functionally closely coordinating with the Konecranes Group VP HSE and Crisis Management. The HSE Director has direct reports from the EMEA country HSE network.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Leadership:
    • Implement the Konecranes HSE policy, strategy and standards within the EMEA Region and develop Region-specific initiatives to drive a strong safety culture.
    • Lead the ISE EMEA HSE team, providing direction, support, and mentorship to ensure high standards of safety and environmental performance.
    • Promote a proactive HSE culture across all levels of the organization, fostering accountability and engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international HSE laws, regulations, and standards.
    • Maintaining open communication and ensuring timely reporting of incidents, audits, and compliance.
    • Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and industry best practices, advising senior leadership on necessary changes.
  • Risk Management & Incident Investigation:
    • Identify potential HSE risks and implement effective risk management strategies.
    • Lead incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Training & Development:
    • Ensure employees at all levels are trained on HSE policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Develop and implement ongoing training programs to continuously improve the organization's HSE competency and awareness.
  • Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement:
    • Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
    • Drive continuous improvement through the identification of trends, opportunities, and implementation of new HSE programs and initiatives.

Qualifications

What You Should Bring?

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in HSE roles or similar, with 5+ years in a leadership position.
    • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing HSE programs in a manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment, including change management and developing safety culture.
  • Skills:
    • Good knowledge of HSE regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in incident investigation and risk management.
    • Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
    • Ability to lead and develop a diverse team
  • Certifications:
    • Professional certifications are preferred.
