Job Description

Konecranes Industrial Equipment provides an extensive range of industrial cranes, from components and light duty applications to demanding process use and solutions - serving general manufacturing and various process industries. We are the world’s largest supplier of industrial cranes and wire rope hoists and a technology leader with digital controls, software and automation. All crane components are selected to improve the high level of safety required for the hazardous atmospheres in chemical and petrochemical plants, oil refineries, gas power plants, wastewater treatment plants, paint shops and other industrial sites. 

Competence Center Explosion-proof team (CCEX) is responsible for the Explosion proof (EX) technology of hoists and components. It defines EX products based on the existing hoist platforms and does the related lifecycle management for the EX-products (electric wire rope cranes, electric chain hoist cranes and electric chain hoists). CCEX also manages the qualification, risk assessment, and certification processes for the EX-products. It does the EX-related 3rd-level support together with the hoist platform teams. 

We are now looking for a Development Engineer with a focus on product safety and product technology. 

Your key responsibilities

  • Cooperate with engineering, procurement, subcontractors and manufacturing to ensure the quality and safety of the delivered EX equipment
  • Cooperate with engineering to ensure engineering EX data is updated in accordance with relevant standards and customer requirements. 
  • Keep track of certification and technical changes within commercial EX manufacturers used as vendors 
  • Be in direct contact with EX suppliers for quotations and technical support
  • Prepare and maintain guidelines, procedures, and work instructions
  • Cooperate with the quality department to make sure that all activities will be performed and documented according to standards
  • Participate in reviewing and conducting root cause analysis on internal and external quality notifications

Qualifications

What you will bring

You are solution-oriented and have good teamwork skills and a hands-on mindset. You understand the overall process and want to complete the tasks independently or with the assistance of other teams. You can collect an understanding of what information and in which format is needed in various process stages so that high-quality standards and safety requirements are met when delivering EX equipment. You can communicate fluently and produce high-quality instruction and other technical documents in English. Knowledge of Finnish is not mandatory. A knowledge of ATEX directives and related standards as well as experience in working with certification authorities are an advantage.
