Job Description

Our Machine Data Platform team is on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer. We’re part of the larger Digital Center of Excellence unit, responsible for the development and delivery of Konecranes Industrial Internet Platform as well as Digital solutions that serve both our customers and business processes. Konecranes Industrial Internet connects, gathers, analyses and presents data from Konecranes built equipment and from the global field service IT system. Our Digital solutions include a multitude of web and mobile applications all built on latest technologies and address the key needs of our customers and businesses.

As Senior Software engineer, you will work in a cross organizational team which develops new Konecranes digital services and solutions ensuring the principles of Lean, Agile, DevOPS, addressing the customer and business needs, leveraging the platform and cloud services. You’ll participate in all stages of software development and operational process: service concepting, technical solution architecture, MVP development, scaling-up, testing and operations.

This position is hybrid-remote and based in Espoo and Hyvinkää, Finland. The role reports to IoT Data Platform Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities

You’ll design and implement data storage and transformation solutions for machine data from our equipment, and build APIs powering Konecranes digital services. Collaboration is key - you’ll work closely with other teams creating customer-facing applications and engage with business stakeholders.

In this role, you’ll strengthen our DevOps environment, Konecranes Information Security Management System and our Software Engineering practices. As part of the Platform team, you’ll join daily routines and contribute to multiple projects with cross-team dependencies.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Software design and development of new digital services for Konecranes using modern programming languages and Cloud platforms.
  • Implementing various testing practices e.g. Unit testing, Systems tests, Automated tests, Security tests.
  • Development of technical specifications and plans.
  • Making good architectural decisions that provide solutions to business challenges and can be utilized as reusable components in Konecranes digital platform.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
  • Translate business requirements into development requirements.
  • Two-way stakeholder communication with product owners for development transparency and meeting stakeholder expectations.
  • Participating in Portfolio/Backlog Management and backlog grooming.
  • Sprint planning and demos.
  • Coordination of feature team resources for the flawless execution of development sprints.

Qualifications

What should you bring?

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re a skilled professional with deep technical expertise and a strong history of delivering scalable, secure, and innovative digital solutions.

  • Solid experience in software development in cloud environments, especially with AWS native services
  • Hands-on experience with API development, serverless architecture, and data solutions (Data Lake, Data Vault). Experience with data coming from machines is a strong advantage.
  • Strong background in big data technologies, SQL, Python, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS tools such as S3 and Athena
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and agile ways of working
  • Ability to handle and resolve issues related to machine-originated IoT data and erroneous source data
  • Previous experience in roles such as Software Developer, Data Engineer, or Business Analyst
  • Relevant education (Bachelor’s or Master’s in software development or information technology management)
  • Customer-centric and lean mindset, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • AWS or other cloud certifications are a plus; certifications in automated testing or Snowflake are also beneficial
