Job Description

Job Description: Design Engineer (Ex-Proof Order Engineering)

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-driven Design Engineer to join our Mechanical Component Order engineering team in Pune. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-precision production drawings and 3D models for our customised solutions involving Explosion-proof (Ex-proof) Rope Hoists, Chain Hoists, and crane components.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical understanding of Hoisting solutions and a "first-time-right" approach to design. Since these products operate in hazardous environments, your work will be critical to ensuring both operational efficiency and human safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & CAD Modelling: Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D production drawings for customised wire rope hoists, chain hoists, and crane components using Siemens NX.
  • Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and technical specifications for manufacturing in the production drawings.
  • Data Management: Maintain design integrity, revisions, and workflows within the Teamcenter PLM environment.
  • Work Management : Utilize SAP for daily Work Management and project tracking. Execute assigned tasks according to the Task Allocation schedule within the SAP
  • Ex-proof Integration: Incorporate explosion-proof design principles (flameproof enclosures, non-sparking materials) into modularised hoist architectures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Order Management and Product Platform teams to resolve bottlenecks and ensure designs are optimized for fabrication.
  • Awareness of ISO 14001 and 45001 standards

Qualifications

Required Skills

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of Siemens NX (CAD) and Teamcenter (PLM) is mandatory. SAP user knowledge will be an added advantage
  • Product Knowledge: Solid grasp of the mechanical architecture of Electric Wire Rope Hoists (including drum design, gearboxes, and rope reeving systems).

Preferred Expertise (Added Advantage):

  • Hazardous Areas: Knowledge of Ex-proof (ATEX/IECEx) protection methods, such as 'd' (flameproof) or 'e' (increased safety).
  • Material Science: Understanding of spark-resistant materials (bronze, stainless steel) and specialized coatings used in volatile environments.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with crane component standards (e.g., FEM, ISO, or CMAA) and manufacturing tolerances.

Core Competencies:

  • Attention to Detail: Precision is paramount; you must be able to spot errors in complex assemblies before they reach the shop floor.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to coordinate effectively with the Order Management and Product platform teams.

Professional Experience & Education

  • Experience: 2–5 years of core design experience in the Lifting Equipment, Material Handling, or Heavy Engineering industry.
  • Primary Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering/ Production Engineering or a closely related field.

Preferred Background: Candidates who have previously worked with manufacturers of EOT cranes, wire rope hoists, or specialized winches will be given preference.
