Job Description

Port Solutions designs, manufactures, sells, delivers and services a wide variety of container handling cranes, shipyard cranes and lift trucks. We are providing the best technological solutions for global customers and we are well known all over the world for trail-blazing technology, delivery excellence and can-do spirit.

Business Unit Port Services, a critical part of Business Area Port Solutions, is a known and trusted service partner within port industry. Port Services offers a wide range of services both internally and externally. Technical Support team within Port Services provides global support to internal frontline units as well as directly to customers for complex retrofits and modernizations requiring technical expertise.

To further strengthen our technical support capacity, we are now seeking to hire an Automation Engineer who will provide technical expertise and contribute to Port Service product development and delivery projects globally. In this role you will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Development of automated service products
  • Offer engineering of global Port Services retrofit and modernization projects
  • PLC and automation software design in global delivery projects
  • Commissioning of automation related projects at site in global delivery projects
  • Troubleshooting and support of automation related cases both remotely and at site
  • Customers and Front Line units support in automation related projects and requests
  • Follow up new technology development
  • Training delivery for stakeholders

Work location: 1-2 days per week in Hyvinkää office and other days remotely. 


Qualifications

What should you bring?

To succeed in this role, you need to have hands-on mentality and ambition to deal with technical issues that require both technical knowledge and problem solving skills. It's also important that you have good cooperation skills and genuine motivation to support your colleagues and to work with people from different teams.

We also expect you to have:

  • A Bachelors’ degree or higher in electrical engineering, automation, software engineering, computer science or electronics
  • Experience with programming tools (especially Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal), field bus systems (like Profibus and Profinet).
  • Programming skills with C/C++ and SQL databases are also valuable assets in this role will be beneficial
  • Ability to stay focused, also in situations when the pressure is increasing
  • Knowledge of crane automation engineering and commissioning is beneficial
  • Willingness to travel up to 120 calendar days per year

To succeed in this role, you will also need to have strong teamwork and communication skills. Fluency in both spoken and written English skills is a must, other language skills are beneficial.
