Company Description

SWF Krantechnik - Makes it easy

SWF Krantechnik has stood for quality and innovation in the field of industrial crane components and hoists since 1921. Our extensive product portfolio includes chain and electric wire rope hoists, crane components, electronic control and monitoring elements as well as light crane systems. This diversity enables customized solutions for requirements of varying complexity. Crane builders and dealers all over the world rely on our high-quality products and excellent advice. With our headquarters in Mannheim and a branch in Shanghai, we are well positioned internationally.

Our success is based on the high modularity of our crane components, which are optimally matched to each other and can be delivered pre-assembled and wired if required. This guarantees tailor-made solutions for a wide range of applications. Technical advice is at the heart of our service - always well-founded, solution-oriented and close to the needs of our customers.

As an independent company within the Konecranes Group, we offer a dynamic working environment in our agile, international team in Mannheim. Here you can expect a diverse range of tasks and the opportunity to develop into a real expert for complex crane components.

Job Description

For our Mannheim location, we are looking for an Area Sales Manager who will be responsible for supporting the countries in Europe and South Africa - with a focus on the UK - in order to strengthen the presence of our SWF partners by acquiring new customers and further expanding existing customer relationships.

You will be the first point of contact for our SWF partners when it comes to consulting, quoting, selling and supporting our products. You will play a central role as an interface between our partners and internal departments - from processing offers and orders to clarifying technical customer questions and support requests.

This is what we offer you:

  • Detailed on-the-job training
  • Hybrid working and flexible working hours
  • Fully equipped kitchen with free coffee, tea and fresh fruit
  • Versatile support programs for employees (health & pension benefits, assistance with consumer issues, legal issues or psycho-social concerns through external counseling)
  • Employee discounts (corporate benefits)
  • Individual training and development opportunities
  • Free parking and good public transport connections

That's what you can do with us:

  • Responsibility: Direct reporting to the Sales Director of the SWF brand in Germany, close coordination in all business-relevant topics as well as supporting cooperation with the relevant functional managers.
  • Strategy development: Co-design and implementation of a global B2B sales strategy to strengthen the competitive position in the region, including complete market coverage in the countries covered and development of holistic solutions instead of individual products.
  • Customer management: Advising, managing and supporting SWF partners as part of key account management (technical and commercial); active sales responsibility for products and services, with possible expansion of the area of responsibility to additional regions.
  • Target orientation: negotiating sales terms, setting and following up on targets (e.g. product mix, turnover, market share), monitoring target achievement and ensuring compliance with contracts, ethical standards and internal guidelines (DOA).
  • Team leadership: further developing and coaching the internal sales team, managing sales-related processes using sales tools and SAP, ensuring lead generation, market transparency and structured reporting as well as contributing to overall business planning.

What you need to bring:

  • Education: Completed technical or commercial training or a corresponding degree (diploma or comparable).
  • Personality: Independent, structured and goal-oriented way of working with strong planning and organizational skills; high degree of personal responsibility and strong interpersonal and sales skills.
  • Experience: At least five years of professional experience in a multinational company (MNC) as well as regular and international travel in the region covered; experience in technical sales of lifting equipment or crane applications is advantageous.
  • Specialized knowledge: Sound knowledge of local and regional markets; ideally experience in sales and planning of solutions related to wire rope and chain hoists, control systems, CraneKit or LightCrane solutions for material handling.
  • IT and language skills: Confident use of sales-related tools and ideally the SAP system; very good knowledge of English (mother tongue preferred), other language skills are an advantage.
