Meet NurLiyana Kamis
From Backend to Frontline
NurLiyana Kamis, part of the ISE APAC Agreement Sales team in Malaysia, has made a bold transition - from backend operations to a customer-facing role that drives business outcomes and builds lasting client relationships.
Tackling transitions with structure and support
When NurLiyana first transitioned into her new role, she faced operational challenges that needed urgent attention. But she leaned on teamwork and structure to deliver results.
“I collaborated with technicians to resolve stock issues and prioritize critical tasks. With my manager’s support, I implemented a structured approach that cleared the backlog within five months, enhancing efficiency, response times, and customer satisfaction. This experience highlighted the importance of planning, perseverance, and teamwork.”
Her ability to streamline processes and improve service responsiveness created a solid foundation for her next big step - sales.
Building trust, one customer at a time
Stepping into a customer-facing position meant learning new skills and proving herself to new customers quickly. For NurLiyana, success came from listening, observing, and acting with purpose.
“Transitioning from backend to sales, I overcame early challenges through mentorship and site visits. By listening to customer needs and collaborating with technicians, I built trust and product confidence. Within 2–3 months, I secured new business, proving the power of adaptability and teamwork.”
Her approach blended technical understanding with customer connection - an essential combination in agreement sales.
Winning together
One of her proudest achievements came when teamwork played a direct role in securing a significant business contract.
“My insights and close alignment with the agreement team shaped a competitive, value-driven offer. This collaboration positioned us as the top choice and demonstrated how collective effort wins bids.”
Her contributions reflected not only her growing confidence but also the importance of cross-functional alignment within Konecranes.
A shift that sparked growth
Moving into sales has allowed NurLiyana to explore new sides of herself professionally. She credits her transformation to on-the-ground experience and great mentors.
“Through mentorship and hands-on experience, I built confidence in understanding needs and delivering value. This transformation expanded my skills and prepared me for more complex, customer-focused roles.”
It’s a reminder that real growth often begins outside your comfort zone - and that support makes all the difference.
Staying balanced and motivated
With a demanding role comes the need to stay energized and focused. NurLiyana turns to sport to recharge.
“In a demanding sales role, staying energized is essential. I maintain work-life balance by playing badminton and pickleball weekly, which keeps me fit, sharpens focus, and helps me reset. These activities boost my decision-making, foster discipline and teamwork, and ensure I return to work recharged and ready to perform.”
Whether she’s on the court or with a customer, NurLiyana shows up with energy, intention, and a commitment to moving what matters.
