Meet Liam Nguyen

Evolving responsibilities

Liam joined Konecranes close to 4 years ago, directly stepping into the role of a Product Owner at the Digital Center of Excellence. Within his new role, Liam started with a clear mission to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality through the development of mobile digital services for both Konecranes employees and customers. Liam credits his current successes to his experiences when first starting out at the company.

“Without the positive environment created in the Digital Center of Excellence, I wouldn’t have been able to reach the professional level I’m at right now,” Liam explains.

While his title may have remained constant, Liam’s responsibilities have broadened. Embodying an ethos of personal growth, he has ventured beyond formal job descriptions. Moreover, Liam’s proactive attitude has led to recognition for his ambition and significant contributions.

A cheerful team player

Liam beams of excitement when talking about his colleagues at Konecranes – in his words, they’re one of the best parts about working in the company. According to Liam, good performances can only be found in teams that collaborate effectively.

“Everything always starts from the people. When I built my team from scratch three years ago, I focused on developing the atmosphere, improving communication, and increasing our interactions.”

To uphold a positive team environment, Liam periodically organizes recreational nights filled with board games, good food, as well as refreshments. He believes that a strong team foundation is built through healthy encounters outside of work – his ethos of flexibility in his approach to teamwork.

Badminton enthusiast

Outside of his valuable line of work, Liam embraces his competitive spirit on the badminton courts. Known for his talent in men’s doubles, he actively contends in Finnish and Vietnamese badminton tournaments across Finland.

“Balance is everything to me. Training after a day of work is really refreshing, and I strive for success in my work as well as my sport.”

As highlighted by Liam, the flexibility seen at Konecranes’ is reflected both within and outside office spaces.

Joy of collaboration and continuous learning

At the heart of Liam’s satisfaction lies the expertise of his fellow colleagues. Whether it’s collaborating with other product owners or interacting with teams from other technology units and businesses, Liam emphasizes that Konecranes’ people make his professional and personal achievements rewarding.

At Konecranes, Liam has honed vital skills like management and strategy development through different development opportunities, such as courses organized by local and international universities – all of this has set the stage for his future career aspirations.

Liam describes Konecranes’ work culture with three words: “supportive, trustworthy, and flexible.” According to him, colleagues are reliable allies, and flexible practices pave the way for growth. Coupled with limitless opportunities for learning and personal development, Liam has found a workplace that is as enriching as it is enjoyable.
