Role Description:
• Perform welding works and structural fittings in accordance to requirements specified in the manufacturing drawings and welding standards in the MHE Quality Management System. This includes ensuring that all welding work processes and activities done by sub-contractors meet in-house quality standards and targeted scheduled dates.
Key Tasks:
• Perform all assigned welding activities for steel structures in accordance to design requirements, welding procedures and sequence as specified in manufacturing drawings so as to ensure that work done meets in-house welding standards as per QMS. This includes selecting the most appropriate welding methodology on the steel structures.
• Ensure that the selection and usage of welding consumables are based on specified welding procedures and that the quality of welding works carried out by in-house sub-contractors complies with the non destructive test (NDT) and/or MHE QC requirements.
• Ensure smooth execution of all welding processes in the production shopfloor during work execution and perform repair works on defective weldment, if necessary, to ensure that welds are free from defects and pass all non-destructive tests performed. This includes reporting to immediate superiors when abnormalities occur during welding process to ensure that issues can be resolved promptly.
• Maintain and upkeep all welding equipment and tools in the production workshop to ensure that they are always kept neat, tidy and in operation-ready mode at all times. This includes reporting and returning damaged equipment and tools immediately to immediate superior for repair or replacement accordingly.
• Assist in the maintenance of facilities in the production workshop in line with standard 5S practices so as to contribute towards a clean, safe and conducive work environment for all personnel on production floor.
• Record actual production man-hours against job codes for projects and submit to immediate superior for follow-up action so as to ensure that job hours captured are accurate and timely for monitoring of cost variance for projects.
• Ensure that processes, activities and procedures carried out in Production Department meets the required quality performance standards and safety standards as recorded in our Quality and EHS Management Systems. This includes reporting of any non-conformance at the workplace accordingly.
Awareness of ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
Academic Qualifications
▪ Professional welding certification from technical/vocational institute with minimum qualification in 3G welding using SMAW or FCAW.
Professional Experience
▪ At least 3 years' working experience preferably in a manufacturing industry.
