Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY                                     

Oversee and be responsible for the receiving accuracy, monitor shipping and packaging of outgoing orders, projects, continuous improvement projects and inter plant moves.

 

Continuous Improvement Responsibilities for a Warehouse Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and Implement Improvement Initiatives: Continuously analyze warehouse processes to identify areas of waste or inefficiency. Develop and execute strategies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency
  2. Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Facilitate and lead cross-functional project teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure collaboration and effective communication among team members to achieve project goals
  3. Conduct Training and Workshops: Organize and conduct continuous improvement training sessions and workshops for warehouse staff. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by educating employees on lean methodologies and best practices
  4. Monitor and Evaluate Initiatives: Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented improvement initiatives. Make necessary adjustments to ensure continuous progress and alignment with the company's strategic goals
  5. Utilize Improvement Tools: Employ various tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen to drive process improvements. Maintain detailed reports of continuous improvement activities and present progress to senior management
  6. Foster a Culture of Improvement: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the warehouse by motivating staff to contribute ideas and participate in improvement projects. Recognize and reward contributions to foster engagement and commitment
  7. Resource Management: Manage the allocation of resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, to support continuous improvement projects. Ensure that resources are used efficiently to maximize the impact of improvement initiatives
  8. Safety Compliance: Ensure that all continuous improvement activities comply with safety regulations and contribute to creating a safe working environment.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and effective utilization of space, equipment, and resources.
  • Inventory Control: Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, including cycle counting, regular audits, and accurate record-keeping of stock levels.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage warehouse staff, including supervisors, clerks, and forklift operators, ensuring a motivated and skilled team.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and create a safe working environment for all warehouse personnel. Conduct regular safety training and inspections.
  • Order Fulfillment: Coordinate order picking, packing, and shipping processes to meet customer requirements and delivery deadlines.
  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with logistics partners, carriers, and suppliers to optimize transportation and distribution processes.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, conveyors, and pallet jacks, to ensure proper functionality.
  • Space Utilization: Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to maximize efficiency and accommodate varying inventory levels.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement measures to enhance warehouse efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Reporting: Generate and analyze reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insights into warehouse performance and suggesting improvements.
  • Budget Management: Assist in budget preparation and manage expenses related to warehouse operations, including labor, equipment, and supplies.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Skills needed to perform the job well.
  • Must be a team player and team builder.
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with SAP.
  • Previous leadership experience a plus
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Emphasizes personal and professional growth. Keep knowledge and skills current.
  • Focus on work and minimize interruptions.
  • Maintain a good, cooperative, and respectful attitude.
  • Comply with safety laws and regulations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of shipping experience, international and domestic preferred

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold and maintain a valid drivers’ license.
  • Must be able to perform basic physical tasks such as lifting 50lb.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
