Job Description

Purpose:

As a Systems Engineer Electrification, you will lead the system-level development of electric drivetrains and supporting subsystems including battery, power electronics, and thermal management technologies.

You will collaborate across global R&D, production, and sourcing functions—and play a key role in driving technical collaboration with external partners in alignment with strategic sourcing, ensuring industry-leading solutions in terms of performance, safety, cost, and reliability. Taking consideration of functional safety, performance, modularity, maintainability, reliability, feature- and product configuration and cost.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Define and manage system-level functional and technical requirements for electrification systems (e.g., battery, inverter, e-motor, charging, thermal).
  • Lead system architecture development and ensure clear, modular interface definitions across subsystems.
  • Lead electrification integration into vehicle platforms and support cross-functional alignment.
  • Act as technical lead with suppliers and engineering partners; ensure quality and compliance of deliveries.
  • Drive modular, scalable system designs to support product family strategies.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, controls, and manufacturing teams to ensure system compatibility.
  • In collaboration with V&V Engineers, develop and lead system-level verification and validation activities (simulation, HIL, physical testing), for internal teams and external suppliers.
  • In collaboration with Compliance engineer, ensure systems meet functional safety and regulatory standards.
  • Support design-to-cost and cost/performance trade-offs during system development.
  • Utilize systems engineering tools, in collaboration with Senior systems Engineer, for process improvements.
  • Drive collaboration with external suppliers and technology partners, working in coordination with Strategic Sourcing to ensure technical alignment, quality, and supplier capability throughout development.
  • Maintain system documentation, including DFMEAs, schematics, interface control documents, and requirement traceability.
  • Work closely with Product Management function, to ensure best functional alignment, within LT products.
  • Regularly reporting of progress and deviation of agreed deliveries.
  • Follow-up and propose improvements needed.

  • Awareness of ISO 14001 &45001 Standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrification systems, preferably in heavy-duty vehicles, commercial vehicles, or industrial machinery.
  • Solid technical knowledge of:
    • Battery systems (Li-ion, BMS)
    • Power electronics (inverters, converters)
    • Electric motor control
    • Vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN)
  • Hands-on experience with system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) is an advantage.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and proficient in English (spoken and written).
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a practical, engineering-driven approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and manage technical relationships with external partners.
  • Analytical and fact-based approach.
  • Able to work cross-functionally within and outside Konecranes Lift Trucks’ organization.
  • Ability to see broad picture and make long term strategic decisions as well as paying attention to details.
  • An interest and willing to learn and personally develop in new technologies.
  • Mindset to challenge current methods and propose actions for continuous improvement.
  • Curious and cooperative with can do attitude.
  • Mindset of developing diversity and inclusion, engagement, and cross functional way of working.

The System Engineer Electrification has the ownership of electrification system development, based on engineering and the authority to act accordingly.
