Job Position: Mechanical Assembler
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The mechanical assembler is responsible for the evaluation, disassembly and reassembly of equipment and machine tools; including, but not limited to: headstocks, transmissions, tool changers, rotary tables, carriers and accessories. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to produce a quality product in a timely fashion. The mechanical assembler is responsible for coordinating the general cleaning and preparation of machine components and sub-assemblies.
The ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assemblies is required. The mechanical assembler is responsible for working with the rigging company to unload and load machinery as requested. If required to meet customer expectations, the mechanical assembler will be assigned to assist the Shop Co-Coordinator with the prepping and painting of his/her project or any other project where assistance is required. Maintain OEM specifications associated with adjustment and alignment of machine tools. Run off of mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and whole machines. Assist in all assigned aspects of the business that are mechanical in nature
Disassemble the machine and inspect all components for condition and wear.
Assemble all components and subassemblies; including, but not limited to: spindle, carriers, gear boxes, transmissions, tool changers, rotary tables etc.
Work with Konecranes MTS vendors and Associates to design, purchase, install and set up hydraulic, lubrication and pneumatic systems.
Perform machine alignments according to OEM specifications using indicators, electronic levels, granite square and Konecranes MTS laser equipment.
Perform complex machine alignments via hand scraping of slides components, gibs and associated clamps or retainers.
Assist the System Integrator and electrical technician with startup, debug and runoff of the machine as requested.
Must be familiar with basic CNC and PLC control functions necessary to successfully perform repairs and service Konecranes MTS customer needs.
Perform machine and equipment installation, trouble shooting, and service work in the field.
Work with outside riggers and Konecranes MTS associates as required to unload or load equipment and machinery.
EDUCATION: Associates degree in mechanical engineering or related field is desired; however, 5 or more years of CNC machine tool experience would be acceptable.
EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years of machine tool experience is desired.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires overnight travel to remove and install the machines that the associate has rebuilt. Ability to work flexible hours, including late nights and/or weekends. On average the travel is 10%-15%.
