Job Description

Job Position : Field Supervisor - Fort McMurray

Address :  - Fort McMurray, AB, T9H 0G3

  • Expected to be a Safety Observer of Operatives in the field, recommended 8 hours monthly, or as required/directed by supervisor.
  • Any unresolved safety concerns raised during the Observations shall be communicated to the Branch Manager and Safety manager.
  • Communicate and provide immediate feedback with workers, on observations, discussing improvement opportunities and hazard control measures.
  • Perform documented Observation Based Safety (OBS’s) interactions and interventions.
  • Provide prompt feedback on observations and interactions directly to those observed, without delay.
  • Ensure that the correct tools and equipment, PPE, and work methods are being utilized in accordance with safe work practices.
  • Participate in Safety Meetings, POWRAS, and Tailgates, as required to assist in raising worker safety awareness.
  • Represent Branch Management and Konecranes Values and Mission at customer sites.
  • Comply with all corporate Safety Policies and guidelines/procedures and all industry established standards/guidelines. including Branch Monthly meetings and those established by the customer.  Advise Supervisor or Manager of any unsafe practice performed or witnessed.
  • Perform inspection of equipment in accordance with legislative Health and Safety laws, OEM requirements and all industry established standards/guidelines such as CSA, CMAA, US OSHA, ANSI, ASME, FEM and any other as applicable. Refresh and update knowledge periodically including self-study and any provided training.
  • Perform scheduled and/or emergency Inspections and Routine Maintenance as required at customer locations
  • Operative Leader “Role Model”- Supervise, lead and coach as applicable other operatives during projects and day to day repairs.  This include, but not limited to, exemplary over-all behavior and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform inspections within the approved/allowed hours without compromising safety or quality. Communicate exceptions to supervisor.  Using the SLIM/Hybrids/Laptops, determine estimates of labor, required parts/material and any special tools or other requirements to perform the required repairs.
  • Support Branch staff (Service Managers, Service Planners) in technical expertise, project kick-off and field evaluation/execution.
  • Document Inspection findings using supplied tools (smart phone) in the shadow of the crane or as agreed with your supervisor.
  • Following a MAINMAN Assessment, perform a consultative “Visit Review” advising the customer of any technical deficiencies or regulatory violations recommending corrective repairs/improvements and identifying items to be quoted using the Operative Quoting process on the SLIM/Hybrid.
  • Perform a “Safety Review” with the customer to discuss any observed or known safety concerns as appropriate.
  • Complete and email the customer the completed Inspection Service Report prior to leaving site and obtain the customer’s signature on appropriate forms/Hybrid/SLIM.
  • Complete all reports and documentation and other appropriate documents in a professional, accurate, neat and legible manner and submit same in a timely manner and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Review job with Service Manager, Sales person, Branch Manager or other to facilitate follow up activity with the customer, discussing repair issues and customer feedback. 
  • Maintain regular communication with the service office staff (Maintenance Planner and Service Manager) in accordance with established practices.
  • Maintain all company issued equipment, vehicle and assets in a safe and proper working order. Operate tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Notify supervisor of any deficiencies for resolution.
  • Report any maintenance requirements of company Vehicle (if applicable).
  • Comply with all corporate uniform Policies and guidelines. 
  • Available for “on call” as part of the service office rotation (as required in specific Branches/Satellites).
  • Successfully attend Crane Inspector Certification Program-Canada and other required Training.
  • Perform Repairs if/as required or any other Technician work to support Emergencies or short staffing
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills: Must meet the minimum qualifications and skills of an Inspector as set by CSA B167-16 (qualified Journeyman Electrician and/ Millwright or equivalent experience) and possess excellent verbal, leadership, supervisory and customer service skills. Strong focus on Safety.
