Electrical Assembly Foreman

Crane Electrical Assembly, Wiring & Testing

Location: Houston, Texas

Position Summary

Konecranes is seeking a results-oriented Electrical Assembly Foreman to lead electrical installation, wiring, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning activities associated with custom Engineered-to-Order overhead cranes.

This position is responsible for ensuring electrical systems are installed and tested safely, correctly, and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality and workmanship. The Electrical Assembly Foreman provides direct leadership to electrical assembly personnel and drives accountability for safety, quality, productivity, and schedule adherence.

This role is critical in ensuring cranes are fully functional, tested, and prepared for shipment and field installation.

 Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and direct electrical assemblers, technicians, and wiring personnel.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, urgency, and execution.
  • Coach employees to achieve performance and quality objectives.
  • Address performance issues promptly and constructively.
  • Foster strong teamwork across assembly, engineering, quality, and project management groups.

Production Management

  • Oversee electrical installation and wiring operations.
  • Coordinate manpower and resources to support production schedules.
  • Monitor progress and resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Ensure equipment is wired and configured according to engineering requirements.
  • Coordinate testing and commissioning activities.

Quality & Technical Standards

  • Ensure all electrical installations, wiring methods, control panels, and equipment assemblies comply with applicable NEC, UL, customer, and project-specific code requirements.
  • Support equipment designs and assembly processes that meet CSA requirements for cranes destined for Canadian service.
  • Ensure electrical installations comply with engineering drawings, schematics, and customer specifications.
  • Maintain compliance with Konecranes workmanship standards.
  • Verify testing, inspection, and documentation requirements are completed.
  • Drive first-pass quality and reduce troubleshooting and rework.
  • Ensure equipment is fully functional before shipment.

Testing & Commissioning

  • Oversee functional testing of completed crane systems.
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of electrical issues.
  • Coordinate resolution of deficiencies identified during testing.
  • Verify readiness for shipment and field installation.

Safety Leadership

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements and company procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety reviews and corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

 Desired Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application to industrial control panels, motor controls, crane systems, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) electrical requirements, C22.1 Canadian Electrical Code, and customer-specific Canadian compliance requirements preferred.
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics, control drawings, and code requirements to ensure compliant installations.
  • Knowledge of UL, NEC, CSA, and industrial electrical safety standards applicable to overhead crane manufacturing and testing.
  • Experience leading electrical assembly, industrial controls, wiring, commissioning, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience managing production schedules and workforce performance.
  • Knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, industrial wiring, and crane systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
