Konecranes Port Solutions provides equipment, software and service for the container handling industry. Our mission is to provide the world's best container handling solutions and we're leading the way with technology, process understanding and service commitment. Within our Port Solutions team we have four Business Units—BU Quay & Horizontal, BU Yard, BU Port Services, and BU Lift Trucks.
Business Unit Quay & Horizontal is consisting of Business Lines Automated Horizontal Transportation (AHT), Equipment Control Systems & Services (ECSS), Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHC), Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG), Ship-to-Shore Cranes (STS), Shipyard Cranes (SHIP) and Straddle Carriers (SC).
Join us as Director for Subcontracting Manufacturing where you will be responsible for overseeing, managing and developing subcontracting manufacturing operations with focus on BU Quay & Horizontal products across the REGION. At the same time, this role you will be responsible for driving new BU Yard-specific partnerships, while established Yard partnerships will continue to be handled by the BU Yard Supply team.
This leadership role requires strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement to ensure efficient production processes, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards are met. In-depth knowledge of products in scope, structural manufacturing and welding processes and demanding surface treatment operations will be essential to succeed in the role. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to drive operational excellence and align with the company's business objectives.
You will be expected to lead the establishment of a professional team dedicated to screening, selecting, establishing and ramping up subcontracting network in North-Asia for crane structure and module fabrication and assembly. You’ll be crafting a vision for subcontractor relationships that drive excellence, ensuring that each partnership contributes to innovative progress and operational efficiency. The Director will be instrumental in analyzing market trends, setting performance benchmarks, and strategizing improvements to subcontractor management practices to stay ahead in a competitive landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, establish and ramp-up new subcontracting concepts as dictated by business requirements and by the execution of business strategy
Lead negotiations with subcontractors to optimize productivity, manufacturing costs, delivery timelines, and production capabilities while meeting highest quality standards.
Develop, monitor and analyze production performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with cross BU supply chain, Business Units, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of subcontracted manufacturing processes.
Develop, jointly with subcontractors, improvement and investment plans for the subcontractors to positively drive productivity and to meet our future long-term targets in terms of cost efficiencies and capabilities.
