Job Description
BU Yard is one of four key business units under Business Area Port Solutions, alongside Quay & Horizontal, Port Services, and Lift Trucks. Its structure reflects the operational logic of container terminals, enabling sharper targeting and accountability for specific yard operations.
Each business line within BU Yard contributes distinct technological strengths:
- Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC),
- Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG),
- Automated Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (ARTG), and
- Automated High Bay Container Storage (AHBCS).
We are looking for the Director PMO, BU Yard to lead the project and warranty management in the BU.
PMO develops and provides project management resources to assure the punctual and on-budget deliveries in line with the quality standards and contractual requirements. PMO implements and harmonizes for best practices for all the phases of the deliveries and warranty care. The people in PMO work close to our customers with diverse techno-commercial and managerial tasks so the performance of our PMO has a direct connection to the customer satisfaction. The role holder will be part of the BU Yard Management team and report to the SVP, BU Yard.
PMO has the vital role in ensuring our business success both in short term and long term.
To make this happen, these are the key activities:
• Leading the PMO with a long-term vision and a roadmap to get there
• Planning, balancing and prioritizing the short-term operational tasks and long-term development tasks of PMO
• Ensuring the successful execution of the delivery projects.
• Coaching and steering the sub-teams and the sub-teams heads with their specific plans and KPI’s
• Ensuring the availability of world class resources in line with the long-term plans of the BU
• Participation and strong contribution the BU Yard Management Team’s work and cross-organizational development activities
• Smooth and active communication externally and with intra-BU and cross-BU stakeholders
Qualifications
What is needed to succeed in this role:
• A degree in technical, technology or commerce related field and / or strong background as equivalent
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills
• Capability to manage strategic and operational tasks with the business acumen to keep them in balance
• Diverse and global mindset, willingness to travel
• Strategic Vision and Technical Expertise: Understanding of general large size machinery manufacturing concepts and machinery functioning principles and automation.
• Industry Insight: Familiarity with the port crane industry or other capital goods industries.
• Project Management Experience: Experience with large equipment delivery projects, Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) is an advantage. Experience in driving complex improvement and/or development initiatives.
• Customer-Centric Approach: Ability to understand customers' needs, adapt to different industries, and continuously learn to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Leadership and Team Building: Proficiency in team management, including building and leading a cross-functional project team. Effective management of relationships, both internal and external stakeholders, including customers and subprojects.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (spoken and written), as it will be the primary language for communication. French, Spanish, German skills will be an advantage.
