Job Description

At Konecranes, we’re proud to be a global leader in container handling technology. Our Automated Stacking Crane (ASC) systems are trusted by major terminals worldwide, and Business Line ASC is the team driving their successful delivery. We focus on delivering high-quality, high-performance solutions on time, because we know that reliability and efficiency are critical to our customers’ operations.

We are now looking for a Chief Project Engineer, Automation to join our awesome team and take responsibility for automation engineering of Automated Stacking Cranes in complex and demanding delivery projects.

This role is based in our headquarters in Hyvinkää, Finland.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Being in charge of project automation engineering from kick-off until end of the warranty time.
  • Supporting sales in sales cases and verifying the feasibility of customers' crane, system and operation specifications, proposing the best matching product design.
  • Being the customer contact point concerning automation matters and ensuring requirements are communicated throughout the engineering team.
  • Securing that project engineering will be executed according to specification, defined standards and regulations, Konecranes engineering principles and JUNA process.
  • Ensuring keeping to the project’s engineering schedule and budget.
  • Collaborating closely with the project team and other stakeholders to secure smooth progress.
  • Defining and allocating engineering resources for project and coordinating resource allocation with Technology teams.
  • Leading the whole project engineering by guiding the work of defined resources (Konecranes engineering centres and/or external engineering suppliers), ensuring all engineering works are performed and verifying final approval of technical solutions.
  • Contributing to product development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

What should you bring?

We’re looking for someone who’s target-oriented, brings a positive attitude, and is open to travelling around 20–50 days per year, sometimes on short notice. You’ll need a BSc or MSc in Automation Engineering, along with experience in engineering and leading design projects in an international business environment.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Solid understanding of automation engineering principles
  • Experience managing design projects across borders
  • General knowledge of standards and industrial machinery
  • Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in English, other language skills are a plus

Readiness to work from our Hyvinkää office 1–3 days a week is considered an advantage.
