Job Description

We are looking for an Automation Engineer to strengthen our competence in the field of automation engineering and to help us with crane modernization projects. By joining our team, you would be working with the group of skilled electrical, mechanical and automation engineers in our Global Modernizations organization. Working in this team means supporting Konecranes frontline units in engineered modernizations for bridge (EOT) cranes. These modernizations are based on Konecranes solutions and technology.

Location: hybrid work model with possibility to work 2 days per week at Hyvinkää office and other days remotely. 

Your key responsibilities:

· Automation engineering of crane modernization projects using Siemens Step 7, Tia Portal and some legacy tools.

· Giving engineering support for our project team’s electrical and mechanical engineers as well as some frontline specialists all over the world.

· Automation site commissioning work in our modernization projects.

· Documenting the work into the Konecranes PLM systems.


Qualifications

What you should bring:

We are looking for a professional with previous engineering experience, attention to detail and motivation for the quality that is required in these kinds of projects. To be successful in this role, you will also need to get along with different people and have a team player mentality. We appreciate practical site installation and commissioning work experience.

· a Bachelors’ degree or higher in automation or software engineering, computer science or electronics.

· Some experience in automation engineering in machine industry is valued, preferably with technologies including inverter and PLC controls.

· You perform well in working with logic problems and systematic problem-solving and you have good communication skills, also under pressure

· Fluency in English. Finnish and other languages are an asset

· Experience with PLC programming tools (especially Siemens Step 7 and Tia Portal), field bus systems (like Profibus and Profinet), programming with C/C++ and SQL databases are also valuable assets in this role.

· Site visits for crane applications and commissioning work require the ability to work at heights and travel globally estimated 50-100 days per year.
