Dian Aprilia | Field Engineer

Can you share your journey so far?

‘’I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology in Surabaya, Indonesia. I started my career as an Automation Engineer at a printing firm. At one point, I ventured into the field of Data Analysis. However, life eventually led me back to engineering when I was given an opportunity at Konecranes.’’

How do you feel being female in this position?

‘’The most challenging part has often been being the only woman on the team. It's not uncommon to experience a sense of difference, or even face underestimation, as a female engineer. Initially, I wasn't actively involved with the team. Over time, I've trained myself to rise above these challenges, stay motivated, and work well alongside my male team members.’’

Have you found any role models or mentors at Konecranes?

‘’Fortunately, my direct manager has been a great mentor and role model. His knowledge about Konecranes products has been invaluable. Beyond work, he has also imparted several life lessons and constantly pushes me forward.’’

How do you feel about your journey with Konecranes?

‘’It's a mix of pride and responsibility. The support I've received from the DEI Apprenticeship program has been tremendous. While I'm grateful for this, there's also a constant hope that I don't let the company down. I've been included in the Training Center & DEI Apprentice Program as a role model, which has been an honor for me.’’

What advice will you give to aspiring female engineers?

‘’Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Regardless, keep pushing forward, do your best, and always find ways to thrive.’’
